The Huuva´s

“We are foodie people, arctic lifestylers, creators, visionaries and storytellers”

— Henry & Pia Huuva (and the Huuva Crew)

2023 and we’re still here! Continuing with the Huuva Hideaway 2.1 ”edition”

The Huuva Hideaway “concept” has been shaped since 2010 when we started the business by taking small steps and offered cozy living in our Ajtta Lodge and Floataway House. During the summers of 2014-2019 we also operated the popular White Guide awarded and well attended Restaurant “Utblick” (meaning Outlook / Look Out) on the nearby Luppio Mountain.

What we have learned and really appreciate are the magic encounters and time spent with our guests! We love to meet you, share the place, nature, food, lifestyle and everyday knowledge given to us by our ancestors. To be honest that’s the foremost reason why we are now so happy and excited to set new goals and share the ”updated” version of “Huuva Hideaway 2.1” with you!

The work, dream and concept of Huuva Hideaway is a small scale, sustainable, enviromentally conscious and responsible business who offer you as our guest

  • A cozy “laidback” Getaway close to nature

  • A special place for you to spend precious time with your loved one/s

  • Sámi Hospitality, Culture, Food, Storytelling and Arctic lifestyle hacks (Knowledge and experiences)

  • Outdoor Sámi Food, Taste and Drink Experiences in a mix of traditional, new and Regional edibles, produce and drinks.

All the best, take care and hope to see you soon!

Liehittäjä

A small village, or maybe we can call it a homestead since we are only about 10 people living here all year round and most of us have Huuva as common Surname. Liehittäjä means “Seductice” in old Finnish language. We agree to that interpretation!

Talking about facts and figures it can also be added that we are 5 business men and women here Mestersnickerier, Huuva Förlag, Yvonnes Glutenfria Bageri, Huuva land owner and Utblick - Huuva Hideaway. Another fact/good to know is that there are 22 saunas in Liehittäjä. Some of them can be accessed and enjoyed when you book your package or lodging here at Huuva Hideawayl

The village is set by and around the lake Liehittäjäjärvi and along the gravel road in the midst of fir- and birch trees on the “ridge” between the great Torne River and Kalix River. Coming here would take you on winding roads, through magic nature no matter what season.

The yellow road sign saying “Huuvavägen” is where you will turn when coming to take part of food experiences at our summer outdoor restaurant

At times we make our own little excursions not far from home. Mostly by walking, skiing or going by snow mobile, canoe or boat. Of course Swedish homemade Fika is one of the things we always bring!

The pick nick above was actually a scenography and photo session in October 2019 to make ambiance photos for designer and Silver Smith Erica Huuva who was invited to Showcase her jewelry at the Arctic Design of Sweden Show room at SACCNY in New York Photographer: Marcus Stenberg. Model: Maja Huuva
